CONFUSION CHARACTERIZE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYERS IN MAFINGA DISTRICT

Confusion characterised the commemoration of yesterday’s National Day of Prayer in Mafinga District when the designated venue, the New Apostolic church, was found closed for unexplained reasons.

Efforts by the organizers to get the keys to the venue were unfruitful as the person in charge with the keys was not traceable as his mobile phone was switched off.

This caused panic among the congregants who were advised to return to their respective homes as they keys to the venue were untraceable by broadcast time.

And Pastor Chitambala from the New Revival Church expressed disappointment at the development.

He said that the day was set aside for prayer by President Edgar Lungu, a decree he said should be followed by every well-meaning Zambian.

Meanwhile, Pastor Amos Simwanza from the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church who also expressed his disappointment suggested that government should construct a hall in the district where public events such as the National Day of Prayer can be held.

However the commemorations were later held at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church that offered an alternative venue.

The event is attended by Chief Mwene Chifungwe of the Fungwe people of Mafinga District, the District Commissioner Vivian Namwayi, various heads of government departments and pastors from various churches.
