Expectant mothers and women in Kanyama compound have called for the renovation of the maternity wing at Kanyama clinic.
In an interview with Komboni Radio news, the women complained that the sanitary conditions in the maternity wing leaves much to be desired as mothers do not even have proper bathrooms to use.
Mrs Brenda Zulu says it is disappointing that after 52 years of Zambia’s Independence, expectant mothers are being asked to take buckets to the clinic to use for bathing when it is government’s responsibility to provide such facilities.
And another concerned mother stressed the need for the authorities to urgently renovate the maternity wing at Kanyama clinic in order to allow mothers deliver in conducive environments.
