ZNUT CONDEMNS TEACHERS WITH FORGED CERTIFICATES

The Zambia Nation Union of Teachers has cautioned government not to rush in dismissing teachers who have so far been found with forged Grade 12 and GCE certificates.

Speaking in an interview with Komboni Radio News, ZNUT Secretary General Newman Bubala says in as much as the union wants government to take punitive measures against teachers that have been found wanting, there is need for the authorities to find the root cause of the matter.

Mr Bubala has since advised the government to engage the affected teacher and give them a chance to re-write the exams.

The ZNUT Secretary General has also urged the Teaching Council of Zambia to revisit the teacher recruitment process.

Meanwhile, the Zambia Union of Teachers in Southern Province has also expressed disappointment over the 501 teachers that have been found with forged school certificates.

ZNUT Southern Province organizing committee secretary Kennedy Sumbwanyambe has described the revelation as a sad development to the teaching profession stating that this has a negative effect on the performance of pupils.

Mr Sumbwanyambe charged that education is Key to the economic development of the country and therefore urged people not to be in a hurry to get employment using fake results but be patient enough to upgrade their papers and get genuine results in all sectors.
