The Zambia Nation Union of Teachers (ZNUT) says it is still negotiating for improved salaries and better working conditions for teachers.
Speaking in an interview with komboni radio news, ZNUT Director for International and Public Relations Joe Kasaka said the union is still doing everything possible to ensure that its members have better salaries and improved working conditions.
He has since appealed to teachers across the country to remain calm as the union engages government over these matters.
Mr Kasaka charged that teachers deserve the best as they help shape the future of the pupils in the country.
