ZABS WARNS AGAINST BUYING SECOND HAND UNDERWEAR

BY SYLVESTER KAUMBA
The Zambia Bureau of Standards-ZABS has reiterated its call on members of the public to be quality conscious and stop buying second hand underwear.
ZABS Head of Marketing and Public Relation Hazel Zulu has told Komboni radio news in an interview that consumers should place their health before anything else and desist from buying goods that have potential to negatively affect their health.
Mrs Zulu charged that if people stopped buying used underwear there was not going to be a market for such products.
She stressed that ZABS has put in measures to ensure that the general public receives good products by banning the importation of second hand underwear such as pants, boxers, bras or any other clothes that touches the skin.
And residents have called on ZABS to embark on sensitization programmes in communities on the dangers of wearing second hand underwear.
Mr. wisdom Simusa has told Komboni Radio News that doing so will help residents especially those in high density areas appreciate the importance of buying quality products stating that this will reduce contraction of diseases such as cervical cancer among others that people get from wearing second hand underwear.
