The Zambia Bureau of Standards-ZABS says it recorded a 22 percent increase in the number of product samples tested for industry in 2016.
ZABS head of marketing and Public Relations Hazel Zulu has told Komboni Radio News that the bureau tested 8,930 samples exceeding the targeted 7,300.
And Mrs Zulu has appealed to manufacturers, food processors and importers of various goods regulated by ZABS to make product testing precedence in 2017 so that they can enhance the quality, safety and competitiveness of local products.
She notes that if the industry in general can prioritize product testing in 2017, then the country is on the right path to promoting trade not only at national level but also at international level.
