Copperbelt permanent secretary Elias Kamanga says the contractor engaged by government to build the Copperbelt international airport has moved on site and ready to start works.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Komboni radio news, Mr Kamanga disclosed that government is expected to spend five hundred and twenty two million US dollars on the project.
Mr Kamanga further disclosed that over four hundred households will be relocated from the area where the new airport will be constructed.
He says the process of verifying details of the 496 households to be displaced before they can be compensated and relocated to pave way for the works is almost concluded.
The Copperbelt PS says once the airport is constructed, it will re-position the Copperbelt and the country as a hub for air traffic in the region.
