WOMEN WELCOME BAN ON BARE BREASTED WOMEN AT N’CWALA

BY CECILIA SOKONI

Some women in Lusaka have welcome the ban on bare breasted women at this year’s N’cwala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni speaking people of eastern province.

Speaking in an interview with Komboni Radio News, the women charged that the move to ban the display of breasts at the traditional ceremony is progressive as some women use to feel uncomfortable watching the ceremony with men.

Ms Bibian Nampasa adds that the display of breasts by women was an indecent act as women are always expected to cover all their private parts.

And Mrs Lillian Phiri has further appealed to traditional leaders to do away with some traditional practices that are not in conformity with the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation.

Paramount Chief Mpezeni has banned the public display of breasts by women saying the trend cannot continue as times are changing and people need to adjust.
