Two women of the same family have died in Kalabo district of Western Province after they allegedly drunk a herbal concoction suspected to be poisonous.
Western Province Police Commissioner, Charles Lungu named the deceased as Namasite Mutumba 67 and her sister Nyambe Sangombo aged 70 both of Mande village in Chief Nalubutu of Kalabo district.
Mr. Lungu revealed to ZANIS in Mongu in an interview that the two mate their fate on Monday, June 18, 2018 while visiting a witch finder in the nearby village.
He further revealed that the duo died at different intervals, the same day.
Mr. Lungu said the bodies of the deceased persons are lying in Kalabo district hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Meanwhile, Police are holding the said witch- finder in connection with the death of the two women.
Wamunyima Nawa aged 49 of Siroke village in Chief Imbuyi’s area in Kalabo district was arrested yesterday to help Police with investigations.
This was after a daughter to one of the deceased reported the matter to the police on June 20, 2018.
Circumstances leading to the death of the two sisters are that on the 18th of this month, the family decided to take them to the witch finder in pursuit for the cure against a strange disease which they had been suffering from for many years.
