A combined team of ZESCO and the state police this morning swung into action to secure the entire stretch of pylons from Kafue road passing through Soweto market into Mumbwa road.
Zesco spokesperson Henry Kapata who confirmed the development to Komboni radio news says the presence of the police will continue to be there until the mounting of the seven gates has been completed by the contractor.
Mr Kapata says this follows several warnings that have been given to the traders to stop conducting their businesses under the Zesco pylons.
He hopes that the traders will comply and relocate to designated places that have been allocated to them by the local authority.
Mr Kapata reiterated that conducting businesses under the ZESCO pylons can be extremely dangerous in an event of an accident.
Meanwhile, some traders have cried foul over their eviction from the ZESCO pylons.
The traders have charged that they feel cheated after they were earlier promised that will only be evicted on the 30th of this month, but were surprised after a combined team of Zesco and state police asked them to leave the pylons in the early hours of this morning.
Some traders talked to, lamented that they have lost most their good during the operation through thefts and damage as the exercise was unexpected.
They have since appealed to government through the local authority to quickly identify an ideal place for them before they are turned into destitutes.
ZESCO has constructed a wall fence around the national grid pylons to deter people from trading under them but traders defied this continued to do their businesses there.
