TAXI DRIVERS AT GARDEN COMPOUND BUS STATION URGED TO COMPLY AND RELOCATE

Ngwerere ward 19 councilor Adrian Banda has called on Taxi drivers at Garden compound bus station and other traders to relocate to pave way for the construction of a shopping mall.
Reacting to complaints from Taxi drivers who have been told to vacant the place they are currently operating from, Mr Banda assured the taxi drivers that the design of a shopping mall which is under construction near the taxi rank has a provision for taxi slots.
The civic leader added that the bus station which has no toilets but surrounded by a lot of traders requires an upgrade which will include a modern shelter at the station.
Last week, taxi drivers in Garden compound protested their pending removal from the land they are currently operating from in order to pave way for the construction of a shopping mall.
The drivers appealed to their area councilor to intervene in the matter saying if they are displaced, they will find it hard to fend for their families.
Meanwhile, Ngwerere 19 Councilor Adrian Banda says land for the construction of a modern market in garden compound has already been identified pending approval from the council for the construction project.
