South Africa’s public broadcaster SABC has apologised to presidential hopeful Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma for calling her “Zuma’s ex-wife”.
It is the second time the SABC has used the term in the space of just two months, it adds.
Last month, the broadcaster referred to her as “mini Zuma”.
SABC chief executive Nomsa Philiso said the comments were “sexist and wrong”.
ENCA reports that the women’s wing of the governing African National Congress said the broadcaster’s staff were “cheerleaders of male chauvinism”.
The SABC says it will investigate the issue and will not hesitate to take steps against any found guilty of wrongdoing.
President Zuma is a polygamist, and Ms Dlamini-Zuma was one of his three wives until she divorced him in 1998.
Ms Dlamini-Zuma, who had four children with her ex-husband, has not remarried.
