SOUTH AFRICA HOSPITAL ROOF COLLAPSES INJURING SEVERAL PEOPLE

Rescue workers in Johannesburg are using heavy lifting equipment and sniffer dogs in the search for people believed to be trapped under rubble after a roof collapsed at a major hospital.
The roof caved in at the reception area of the Charlotte Maxeke state hospital as construction work was under way to seal a leak, officials say.
At least 10 people have been treated for minor injuries, including patients.
Heavy rain has hampered rescue work at one of the country’s biggest hospital.
Emergency services’ teams were still assessing whether anyone was trapped in the rubble.
A statement from the provincial department of health in Gauteng province said the cause of the collapse was still unknown.
