Mafinga Constituency Member of Parliament Jacob Siwale has officially launched the installation of 8 out of the 22 Presidential Hummer Mills allocated to the newly founded Mafinga District of Muchinga Province.

And speaking during the handover ceremony, Mr Siwale expressed delight at what he termed government’s commitment towards reducing the price of mealie meal and the cost of living for the people of Mafinga and the rest of the country.

He said the solar milling plants which are being installed within 10 Kilometres of the District will help ease the burden of members of the community having to cover long distances just to have their maize milled as previously the District only had three Hummer Mills which had been a huge challenge for the people.

Mr Siwale further explained that the installation of the solar milling plants will also see the generation of 15,000 Kilo watts of power which will also help light up some parts the area.

The lawmakers also warned the communities and cooperatives that have received the hummer mills against misuse saying they risk having the milling plant withdrawn from them and given to other cooperatives.
