Police in Siavonga District have arrested a man believed to between 30 and 34 years old of Kanyelele compound for defiling a six year old girl of the same compound.
Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama who confirmed the development to Komboni Radio News in a telephone interview has identified the suspect as Godson Mulenga.
Mr Kanyama explained that Mulenga who is the neighbour to the victim is alleged to have been defiling the young girl on several occasions.
The suspect who was apprehended on Monday is currently detained in Siavonga Police and is expected to appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, the Siavonga District Commissioner has appealed to the victim’s family not to withdraw the case from the courts of law.
Mr Kanyama has since vowed that he will personally ensure that the culprit is brought to book to deter other would be offenders in the District.
