Traders at Chelstone’s Obama market have continued to pressure their local leadership to evict a group of young girls that have turned the market into a brothel.

Mrs Agness Mambwe has complained to a Komboni Radio News crew that visited the market today that the girls are still sleeping in one of the shops in the market which they have turned into a brothel.

She lamented that girls have continued to abuse drugs and use insulting language in the market.

And Ms Mary Mulenga says despite making numerous calls to the local leadership nothing has been done to address the matter.

And when contacted, Lusaka City Council Public Relations Manager Habeenzu Mulunda said he was out of office and referred all queries to his deputy Brenda Katongola who was also not available by broadcast time.

Early last month, a man in his thirties was allegedly raped by a group of 6 female sex workers at Obama market in Lusaka’s Chelstone Township.

The victim who disclosed the development to a Komboni Radio News crew that visited the area said he was robbed and raped by a group of notorious sex workers calling themselves the C5.

He disclosed that the said sex workers who are aged between 15 and 20 have occupied one of the shops in the market which they have turned into a brothel.
