SESTUZ SADDENED WITH TEACHERS FOUND WITH FAKE CERTIFICATES

Secondary school Teachers’ Union of Zambia (SESTUZ) has said education standards in the country should not be compromised by teachers with fake qualifications.

SESTUZ Deputy Secretary General Emmanuel Zulu said his union could however not state at this particular time how many of their members were amongst those with fake qualifications but was quick to state that his organization will not side with its members that will be found wanting.

Mr Zulu added that the Registrar of the teaching council of Zambia will have to submit a list of those teachers with fake qualifications to the Ministry of Education for appropriate action as it is the main employer of teachers.

Mr. Zulu was reacting to revelations by the Teaching Council of Zambia that about 400 teachers who submitted their qualifications for registration and verification were found with forged documents.
