SENIOR INTELLIGENCE OFFICER FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL PARKS AND WILDLIFE FOUND WITH CASE TO ANSWER

A senior intelligence officer from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife who is charged with theft by public servant of a prescribed trophy has been found with a case to answer by the subordinate court in Lusaka and thus put on his defense.
Lameck Mumba was the key suspect in the rhino horn that was stolen from the exhibit room at the DNPW headquarters last year.
Ministry of Tourism and Arts Public Relations Officer Sakabilo Kalembwe who confirmed the development to Komboni radio news today said Mumba has been on suspension since the case started.
Meanwhile, Mr Kalembwe has disclosed that the Department of National Parks and Wildlife has arrested 27 suspects and recovered eight assorted firearms and 87 kilogrammes of assorted game meat.
He said this is as a result of 28 long patrols, 60 short patrols, six marine patrols, four village sweeps and five road blocks which the department undertook.
And Mr Kalembwe further disclosed that the DNPW has recorded more than 120 reports of Human Wildlife Conflicts from various regions across the country.
