Roan Primary School in Luanshya which was closed by the health authorities two weeks ago owing to erratic water supply has been reopened.
Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda has disclosed this development to Komboni radio news.
Mr Chanda explained that the school was closed after officials from the council health department inspected the school and discovered that water pipes connected to the school were vandalized by suspected thieves.
He says a meeting was later convened to address the challenges being faced at Roan Primary School and his office engaged the office of the district Medical Director to reopen the school in order to allow pupils write their mid-term exams.
Mr Chanda has since pledged that he will pay half of the cost to sink a borehole in order to address the water challenges being experienced at the school.
