Residents of Kanyama compound have welcomed the establishment of the mini civic centers in all the 7 constituencies in Lusaka City.
The residents have told Komboni radio news that the mini civic centre once established will allow them have easy access to services being offered by the local authority.
One of the residents only identified as Mulenga said currently people have to endure long queues at the council when trying to access services.
Another resident Leah Zulu observed that the mini civic centers once operational will help improve service delivery especially in garbage collection and in the running of markets.
The residents have since urged the authorities to ensure that the construction of the mini civic centres is completed on time adding that local should be given priority when recruiting staff.
And speaking during the ground breaking ceremony to mark the construction of the 7 mini civic centres, Local Government Minister Vincent Mwale said government is committed to ensuring that service delivery is improved.
Mr. Mwale stressed that the establishment of the mini civic centres is part of the government’s decentralization program.
The 7 mini civic centres of which 6 will be constructed by local contractors will cost about 12 million Kwacha.
