RESIDENTS URGED TO TAKE CHARGE AND APPREHEND ANYONE FOUND DUMPING GARBAGE IN UNDESIGNATED PLACES

BY OSCAR NKHUWA
The Lusaka City Council has called upon residents in Lusaka to take charge and apprehend anyone found dumping garbage in undesignated places.
LCC Public Relations Manager Habeenzu Mulunda stressed that it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that drainages and surroundings in any given community are kept clean.
Mr Mulunda says there is need for residents to realize that the indiscriminate disposal of garbage only results in the outbreak such as cholera among others.
Meanwhile, Mr Mulunda expressed happiness that Lusaka did not record any waterborne diseases this year following the sensitization programmes which the local authority embarked on.
Recently, concerned Kanyama residents effected a citizen’s arrest on some people who were found indiscriminately dumping garbage in the locality.
