RESIDENTS REJECT CONSTRUCTION OF NEW STATE HOUSE

Government’s plan to construct a new and modern State house has continued to receive opposition from several stakeholders.

Speaking in separate interviews with Komboni Radio News, residents have advised President Edgar Lungu to abandon plans to build a new state house as it is not a priority.

The residents have charged that government should instead channel the money it intends to use to construct a new state house to other needy areas such as the construction schools among other projects especially in rural areas.

Works and Supply Minister Mathew Nkhuwa recently announced that the construction of a new state house will start next year and will cost about 20 million US Dollars.

Mr Nkhuwa said this follows Parliament’s approval of Government’s proposal to build a new State House because of the deplorable state in which the current one is.
