BY MONDE PHIRI

Residents of Chisamba ranches in Chibombo District have called on government to intervene in a matter in which a white farmer is alleged to have blocked the main road in that area.

Speaking on the behalf of residents, Paul Tembo alleged that the owner of the named Farm has blocked the main road which leads to the clinic and market among other public places.

Mr. Tembo complains that the residents are now forced to cover about 27 kilometres to access the clinic and market when it is only 4 kilometres using the said that has allegedly been blocked.

The farmer is reported to have blocked the road for about 15 years now.

And Mr. Tembo has hoped that the current civic leadership will move in to protect the interest of the local people.

He accused the past leaders of being bribed by the owner of the named farm whenever the matter was raised.

Mr. Tembo also charged that the residents are ready to fight for the main road saying is it is a community asset.
