RESIDENTS CONDEMN CONTINUED ABUSE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

BY OSCAR NKHUWA

Some Lusaka residents have expressed concern over the continued abuse of the social media by some unscrupulous people with hidden agendas.

Speaking in separate interviews with Komboni Radio news, the residents have noted with concern that some members of the public want to settle scores with others using social media.

Joseph Mweemba has since urged Zambians to use social media for the right purposes such as research and advertising among others unlike the current scenario where people are publishing falsehoods about others.

On Sunday, Minister of Transport and Communications Brian Mushimba disclosed that he will in the next sitting of Parliament propose four bills, among them the Cyber Security Bill which will control the abuse of social media and protect people from being exploited.

Mr Mushimba said the other bills are the Cyber Crime Bill, Electronic Commerce Bill and the Data protection Bill.
