Residents of Lusaka’s George compound have called for the expansion of the maternity ward at George clinic.
In an interview with a Komboni radio news crew that visited the community today, Ms Emeldah Mubanga says there is need for the authorities to consider expanding the maternity ward to carter for the population of women who seek antenatal services.
Another resident Memory Shawa also emphasized the need for the expansion of the maternity wing at the local Health centre stating that current one is not enough to carter for the entire population of women in the community.
She disclosed that as a result of this, some women have been forced to seek antenatal Services in other communities which she said is not ideal for expectant women as they have to cover long distances.
The women also urged authorities at George Health Centre to ensure that the clinic is kept clean unlike the current status which they said is not befitting the status of a health institution.
