Reported thefts of Global Fund supported commodities at MSL decisively dealt with-Chilufya

BY KALALUKA MUSHAUKWA

Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya has charged that the recent publication of a story trending on social media citing the Ministry of Health to have been discovered of being responsible for massive thefts and losses of Global Fund supported commodities at Medical Stores Limited is an old story that has been decisively dealt with both at government and institutional level.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka last evening, Dr Chilufya further said that the publication is an all Global Fund Forensic audit that government initiated in 2014 and 2016 which uncovered losses that included weak internal controls in systems at Medical Stores Limited that put products at risk of diversion.

Dr Chilufya also disclosed that government investigations instituted at Medical stores in the period 2014 to 2016 will continue until all culprits to this crime are brought to book.

The Health Minster has however assured the Nation that the supply chain for malaria, TB and HIV commodities are intact and all partners are solidly with Zambia in their steadfast support.
