RECURRING DRAIN BLOCKAGES IRK CHUNGA RESIDENTS

BY NELLY BOTA
Residents of Chunga’s Nelson Mandela area have expressed concern over
the recurring drainage blockage caused by damaged sewer pipes.
Speaking in an interview a resident only identified as Mutukuzi, said
the sewer effluent is now flowing in to the main Chunga road posing
danger to the health of residents especially children.
He complained that nothing has been done to rectify the problem
despite the matter being reported to the water utility firm on several
occasions.
Another resident Clive Chanda fears that if the situation is left
unchecked, it may result in the outbreak of cholera and other
waterborne diseases especially during this rainy season.
And efforts to get a comment from the water utility firm public
relations unit failed by broadcast time.
