POLICE IN KAWAMBWA ARREST ONE SUSPECT IN CONNECTION WITH THE GANG RAPE OF A 31 YEAR OLD WOMAN


Police in Kawambwa district have arrested one suspect in connection with the gang rape of a named 31 year old woman of Mutofwe village in Chief Munkanta’s area in Kawambwa district.

Assistant Police Public Relations Officer GODFREY CHILABI who confirmed the incident to Komboni Radio News says police received a report of gang rape in which a named woman was attacked by two men on her way home from a drinking spree.

Mr CHILABI explained that brief facts of the report are that two men emerged from hiding, grabbed the woman, beat her and later took turns in raping her.

He disclosed that the victim managed to bite one suspect on his lower lip and the tongue, as he kissed her during the act.

The incident occurred on Saturday 9th June, 2018 at about 21:00 hours within Mutofwe village, some few metres away from the victim’s home.

The Assistant Police Public Relations Officer says one suspect identified as William Chilambwe has so far been arrested and will be charged for the offence of rape.

The suspect is nursing deep and severe human bite wounds on his tongue and lacerated lips.

The victim was referred to Kawambwa District Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
