PF TOASTS VICTORY IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT BY-ELECTIONS

The Patriotic Front (PF) says its victories in the 13 out of the sixteen local government by-elections is an indication that the ruling party’s popularity is on the upswing.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka today, PF Secretary General Davies Mwila says the victory in the by-elections is a sign of confidence people have shown in the PF leadership under President Edgar Lungu.

Mr Mwila also stated that the victory in the opposition UPND strongholds has put the party in government in good stead to steer national development.

He further charged that the results are a signal that Zambians have rejected politics of insults, lies and cheap propaganda being championed by some opposition parties.

The PF Secretary General has since assured electorates where the party has emerged victorious that their votes were not in vain as the PF will endeavor to take development across the nation.

The Patriotic Front has won 13 out of the sixteen by- elections that were held yesterday in Copperbelt, North Western, Western, Central and Muchinga province.

The Opposition UPND has only returned three out of the five wards previously held by its councilors.
