PARENTS BEMOAN RAMPANT DRUG ABUSE AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE

BY OSCAR NKHUWA

Parents in Lusaka have bemoaned the rampant drug abuse among young people in the country.

And the parents have wondered why some prohibited drugs that are believed to be administered on mental patients are finding their way on the streets.

Mrs Winfridah  Chileshe, a resident of  Chunga Township lamented that youths  in  the  area  are  now  adding  some  substances  to the  commonly  abused  drug  Marijuana,  and  are  resorting  to  vandalizing  property  both  at home  and  in  public  places.

Mrs Chileshe has since called on health authorities to put in place stringent measures that will curb the abuse of these restricted drugs from health institutions by youths.

Another  resident  only identified   as  Maureen  also complained that young people are absconding School lessons and  are harassing  innocent  members  of  the  public  with  abusive  language  among  other  bad vices due to drug abuse.
