OVER 1000 ROAD TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS DETECTED USING SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has in the past one week detected over 21 thousand traffic violation using the surveillance cameras that were recently installed in Lusaka.
RTSA Head of Public Relations Fredrick Mubanga says the Agency is concerned with the alarming figures of traffic violation offences mainly comprising of excessive speed.
In an interview with Komboni Radio News, Mr. Mubanga disclosed that the agency has since started the process of prosecuting erring drivers that were detected using the surveillance system.
He added that RTSA also intends to roll out the use of surveillance cameras in all highways across the country.
Mr. Mubanga says doing so will address the seemingly high bad driver attitude and behavior thereby improving the country’s road safety profile.
