NUPPEZ URGES TEACHERS TO STOP REMITING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE NEWLY FORMED ZATU

The National Union for Public and Private Educators of Zambia-NUPPEZ has argued that the merging of the four teacher unions which have now formed the Zambia Teachers Union-ZATU means that the eligibility of members is directly transferred to the newly formed union.

Northern Province NUPPEZ Coordinator, Lloyd Mwewa said according to the Industrial and labor relations Act Cap 269 part 2 Section 15 states that the new trade union formed shall be registered in accordance with the provision of this Act.

Mr. Mwewa said that this means that the four teacher unions cease to exist following the merging of the unions.

And NUPEZ provincial chairperson Frazer Sinyangwe has since urged teachers to stop remitting contributions to the newly formed Zambia Teachers Union-ZATU.

Recently, four registered teacher unions- ZNUT, BETUZ, SESTUZ and PROTUZ merged into one to form what is now called Zambia Teachers Union-ZATU.
