NORTHERN PS DIRECTS KASAMA COUNCIL TO TAKE STOCK OF MONIES COLLECTED FROM TRADERS

BY CORRESPODENT
Northern Province Permanent Secretary Jobbicks Kalumba says it is unfair that marketeers at Kasama’s TAZARA market have been subjected to trade in the sun for over three months from the time the market had its roof blown off.
Speaking when he and some heads of government departments toured the market, Dr. Kalumba said it is unacceptable for marketeers to continue trading in the sun despite them paying levy to the local authority.
And the PS further directed the Kasama Municipal Council to take stock of the monies being collected at TAZARA market.
He said it will not be shocking if marketeers stop paying levy to the council due to what he said failure by the council to renovate the blown-off roof at the market.
Meanwhile, there was jubilation among marketeers at TAZARA market when newly appointed Northern Province Permanent Secretary Jobbicks Kalumba visited the market.
Others expressed their dismay at the failure by the council to effectively manage the market.
