NINE PEOPLE PERISH IN MAZHANDU FAMILY BUS ACCIDENT

9 people have died on the spot while several others are injured after a Mazhandu family bus was involved in a serious head on collision with a truck on the Great North Road.
Road Transport and Safety Agency-RTSA Senior Public Relations manager Fredrick Mubanga has confirmed to Komboni Radio news that the accident happened this morning at about 05:40 hours between Kabwe and kapiri Mposhi.
Mr Mubanga also disclosed that the driver of the Higer Mazhandu family bus registration number ALZ 3197 and the driver of the truck both died on the spot.
The Mazhandu bus started off yesterday at about 15 hours from Lusaka to the Copperbelt but stopped in Kabwe last evening after it developed a mechanical fault.
Meanwhile, RTSA senior public relations manager Fredrick Mubanga says the agency is concerned with the number of road carnages that have been recorded involving Mazhandu buses.
Mr Mubanga however says RTSA will continue to monitor the operations of Mazhandu family bus service adding that the public will be advised on the way forward.
