The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has demanded for the immediate clean up at the Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ).

NDC Vice President Rikki Akafumba has charged that the ECZ’s ability and capacity to conduct and administer examinations in the country remains doubtful.

Mr Akafumba stressed that his part fears that Zambian academic credentials will not be accepted by relevant international bodies owing to the dented reputation of the ECZ.

He has since proposed that a team of security officers from relevant institutions be permanently attached to the examination body as this will reduce cases of malpractice at the ECZ.

The NDC has since urged Government to consider disbanding the board at the ECZ as they have allegedly failed to live up and execute their mandate.

On Tuesday General Education Minister David Mabumba announced the indefinite suspension of the 2018 examinations at all levels due to infiltration.

Mr. Mabumba told a media briefing that the suspension affects the grades nine, seven and twelve examinations.

He says this follows the leakage of the grade nine mathematics paper two examination question paper online.
