Fire has swept through Buteko market in Mufulira destroying property with millions of Kwacha.
Mufulira Mayor Gift Mushinge has confirmed the sad development to Komboni Radio News today.
Mr Mushinge explained that the fire started around 0100hrs this morning and was quenched around 0400hrs by a team of council fire fighters.
He has described the development as unfortunate stating that a committee has since been instituted to establish the cause of the inferno that has reduced almost the entire market to ashes.
The Mayor says he is deeply saddened with the news owing to the fact that the market was a source of income for many traders.
