MTENDERE RESIDENTS ASSURED OF COMPLETION OF THE WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION PROJECT

Millenium Challenge Account Zambia says the termination of the 53.2 million Dollars-Lusaka Water Supply, Sanitation and drainage project with Elevo Engineering will not delay the completion of the project in Mtendere compound.
MCA-Zambia Communications and Outreach Director Dr John Kunda says the new contractor who has been engaged is expected to complete the remaining 23 percent of works in Mtendere compound by mid November this year.
Dr Kunda has since appealed to residents of Mtendere compound to continue building toilets as MCA-Zambia has no intentions of abandoning the Water Supply and sanitation project.
And Dr Kunda has disclosed that the new contractor will also be engaged to work in 14 compounds of Lusaka replacing old water pipes with new ones.
He however said that the project in 14 compounds may delay as there is likely to be a shift in the timeline after 15th November 2018 when the American government is expected to stop funding the project.
Dr Kunda disclosed that the Zambian government has also pumped in money to ensure that the project is completed even after the American government stop funding the project.
