MINISTERS URGED TO TAKE LEAVE IF THEY WANT TO CAMPAIGN IN CHILANGA

Electoral expert McDonald Chipenzi has called on cabinet ministers not to use the time they are supposed to be doing official duties to engage in political campaigns in the Chilanga by-election.

Mr. Chipenzi has charged that the trend by ministers to go for campaigns during their official working hours amounts to abuse of public resources.

He has since advised ministers that want to campaign for their candidate to consider going on leave saying campaigning during their working hours amounts to the breach of the electoral code of conduct and the electoral Act.

And Mr. Chipenzi has also called for the disbursement of the President Empowerment Initiative fund in Lusaka District until the mayoral polls are held.

He has observed that giving out funds to marketeers now when the city has a pending mayoral election may be mistaken for vote buying.
