Residents of Lusaka’s Matero North area on Monday woke up to a rude shock when they discovered a fetus dumped behind an unfinished building in the area.

A Komboni radio news crew that visited the scene yesterday found residents had covered the fetus with plastic bags to prevent dogs from feasting on it.

And the residents disclosed that the fetus was discovered on Monday by children who were passing near the unfinished building and alerted adults in the area.

The angry residents have since called on the police to ensure that the culprit is brought to book.

By broadcast time, a Komboni Radio News crew which rushed to the scene found scores of residents waiting for the police to pick the fetus.

Meanwhile, residents of Matero North have expressed concern over delays by the authorities to open the newly constructed police post in that area.

The residents charged that the absence of a functional police post was the main reason the fetus was still at the scene a day after being discovered by residents.
