MATERO CIVIC LEADER URGES RESIDENTS TO DESIST FROM THROWING SOLID WASTE IN SEWER NETWORK

BY NAMUKALE KAPENDE

A civic leader in Matero Constituency has assured residents in his ward that he has engaged the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company to address the persistent sewer blockages in Matero near the Salvation Army Church.

Muchinga ward 24 Councilor Elijah Makungu has disclosed to Komboni radio news that he has engaged the water utility firm who will work with the council to replace the old sewer pipes.

Mr. Makungu has also urged residents to desist from throwing solid waste materials in the sewer network system as this contributes to the sewer blockages.

Recently, residents of Matero Township called on the local authority to find a lasting solution to the sewer blockage that has persisted near the Salvation Army church.
