Some women in Lusaka have bemoaned the high cases of maternal deaths being recorded in the country.

In an interview with Komboni Radio News, the women attributed the high cases of maternal deaths to the alleged negligent attitude by health workers.

Mrs Martha Michelo charged that trainee nurses who are left to handle expectant mothers have contributed to the maternal deaths due to lack of experience.

Mrs Michelo has since appealed to government through the ministry of health to ensure that only experienced midwives are given the responsibility of handling expectant mothers.
