Chilenje ward 8 Councilor Patrick Mwape says plans to demolish structures in Mapoloto area to pave way for the construction of modern housing units have reached an advanced stage.
In an interview with Komboni Radio News, Mr Mwape says the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has identified an alternative place in Mumbwa where residents will be relocated in order to pave way for the construction of modern housing units.
Mr Mwape stressed that government is committed to ensure that people are living in habitable structures unlike the current situation.
The civic leader has since appealed to tenants and landlords in Mapoloto area to corporate with the DMMU during the relocation period.
