MAN ARRESTED FOR KILLING HIS YOUNG BROTHER OVER WHISKY COMMONLY KNOWN AS JUNTA

Police in Chienge District have arrested a 24 year old man who is alleged to have murdered his 22 year old young brother.

Luapula Province Police Commissioner, Elias Chushi identified the suspect as Paul Kasongole who is alleged to have beaten up his young brother after accusing him of stealing three bottles of Whisky commonly known as Junta.

Mr. Chushi said the suspect and his late brother Mwasha Kasongole are both from Sakaala Village in Senior Chief Puta’s Chiefdom.

He explained that the duo had a fight after the elder one accused his young brother of stealing the three bottles of whisky from his makeshift stall.

Mr. Chushi stated that the suspect was initially charged with the offence of assault but it has since been changed to murder following the demise of his young brother yesterday at Chienge District Hospital.

Mr. Chushi further said the results of a Post-mortem conducted revealed that the deceased died from internal injuries he sustained during the fight which left him with a punctured Pancreas and clots in the intestines.

He said the suspect has since been remanded at Chienge Police Station awaiting to be taken to Nchelenge District to stand trial at the Magistrates Court.
