Government has selected Julen Engineering Limited to embark on a K13.5m water project in Kabwe’s Makululu Compound in Central Province.
Lukanga Water and Sewerage Company Public Relations Officer, Louise Mwape, says the contractor for the project, which is expected to benefit 8000 people, has already moved on site.
Mr Mwape told ZANIS in an interview in Kabwe today that the contractor is expected to rehabilitate water supplying equipment and install pumping equipment.
He added that the contract will also include construction of five water kiosks to improve accessibility of clean and safe drinking water in the biggest compound in Kabwe.
The Public Relations Officer further said the company has started raising awareness to make people in the compound aware of the project.
Mr Mwape said the project will not cause any displacements of households except for some disturbances to be caused by excavation works.
He said the project will result in connecting 1000 people to the water reticulation system while the other 7000 will be catered for by the water kiosks.
