LCC URGED TO CLAMP DOWN ON ERRING BARS IN MTENDERE COMPOUND

BY NELLY BOTA
Residents of Mtendere compound have appealed to the Lusaka City Council-LCC to start inspecting bars in that area.
In an interview with a Komboni radio news crew that visited the community today, residents complained that most bars in the community are operating in poor sanitary conditions.
Mike Bwalya says some bars are operating without toilets a situation that has forced patrons to relieve themselves in packs of opaque beer and in surrounding areas.
And James Phiri also complained that most bars in the community are abrogating their liquor licenses with impunity as some operate on a 24 hour basis.
The residents have since appealed to the authorities to move in and clamp down on erring bars in order to restore sanity in the community.
