LCC OWED 15 MILLION KWACHA IN UNPAID LAND RATES

The Lusaka City Council LCC is owed about 15 million kwacha by commercial property owners in unpaid land rates.
Council Public Relations Manager George Sichimba says failure by the commercial entities to pay their rates has affected the local authority’s revenue base.
Mr. Sichimba says this has crippled the council’s service delivery system.
He added that the council has since embarked on an exercise to recover the money it is being owed in form of unpaid rates.
Mr. Sichimba stressed that those that will fail to pay will be issued with warrants of distress and have their property seized.
Mr. Sichimba was speaking to journalists after the local authority conducted an operation to recover money it is being owned by commercial entities based in the industrial area
