Inhabitants of Njolo Village in Chief Nkomesha’s chiefdom have appealed to President Edgar Lungu to intervene in the land wrangles that have erupted between the army and the villagers.

The Villagers have complained to a Komboni Radio News crew which visited the village that soldiers from Mikango barracks in the early hours of today allegedly swung into action and demolished some houses.

The villagers narrated that the soldiers are claiming that people have illegally built houses on land belonging to the Zambia army.

The inhabitants have however charged that they will not vacate the land in question claiming that they have lived there since 1935 even before the barrack was constructed.

And a check by Komboni Radio News revealed that about 10 houses have so far been brought down in the last seven days by suspected army officials from Mikango barracks.

And efforts to get a comment from the Zambia Army Public Relations unit failed by broadcast time.
