KAMANGA RESIDENTS BEMOAN INCREASED CRIME RATE

Residents of Lusaka’s Kamanga compound have called for increased Police patrols following a number of criminal activities that have continued to be recorded in that community.

Mr Mark Nkhata alleged that police officers at the local police station have failed to curb criminal activities in the area as they are pre-occupied with apprehending innocent members of the community for loitering.

Another resident Bridget Phiri told a Komboni Radio News crew that visited the community that residents are ready to partner with the police to fight crime in the area through the formation of a community neighborhood watch.

Mrs. Phiri has also noted that bars in the community have also contributed to the increased crime rate as they operate beyond the stipulated time and are now being used as hideouts for criminals who are ambushing unsuspecting residents at night.
