KABANDA CALLS FOR INCLUSION OF WOMEN’S RIGHTS IN THE CONSTITUTION

Former Civil society leader Simon Kabanda has observed the need for the country to push for the inclusion of the women’s rights in the country’s constitution.
Mr. Kabanda says doing so will help enhance the women’s rights such as access to reproductive health, including family planning and access to related information and education.
Mr. Kabanda has also observed that having the bill of rights will enable citizens have access to health care services, decent housing and food of acceptable standards.
The former civil society leader also stressed the need for the country to complete the constitution making process by ensuring that the expanded bill of rights are included in the national constitution.
Mr. Kabanda has since urged the government to consider holding a referendum on the bill of rights next year and called for increased sensitization on the matter.
