K1.3 MILLION RELEASED FOR MPULUNGU-KASAMA ROAD WORKS

Government has released K1.3 million for the rehabilitation of the Mpulungu-Kasama road.
The Mpulungu/Kasama road has part of its infrastructure washed away by heavy rains.
Patriotic Front-PF Mpulungu Member of Parliament Freedom Sikazwe confirmed this development in an interview with ZANIS.
Mr. Sikazwe who commended government for quickly releasing the funds to repair the damaged portion of the road said the funds were released on Wednesday last week.
Mr. Sikazwe who is also Presidential Affairs Minister said the Mpu lungu/Kasama road plays an important role in the transportation of agro-inputs and goods and services vital to government and private sector.
Mr. Sikazwe further appealed to the contractor engaged by government to quickly move on site and commence work.
He said a good road network is vital to accelerating national development noting that the Mpulungu/Kasama road is a major road linking the northern border port to Muchinga, Luapula and on the Copperbelt provinces.
